dc.description.abstract In this paper, experimental ionization energies are used to determine algebraic equations whose solutions approximate relativistic quantum mechanical estimates of average atomic radii. These algebraic equations are nonlinear and are solved on a digital computer by Newton's method. Pairing is an essential element in the formulation. en
